I was going to comment on this topic about the cancers they cause, but David already did, so no point copying his answer.
Everything he said there is true.
All he really skipped over were the more interesting implications.
Why do they cause cancer? What can that tell us about the nature of cancer? Might that also hint at other sources of similar EMRs or emfs being carcinogens (which has been extremely difficult to test)?
A recent study showing that embedded RFID chips are causing agressive and fast-speading cancers has led to a big reduction in what was thought to be the next big industry.
The report showed a massive increase in cancers immediately around the insertion area and one of the largest RFID manufacturers pulled back much of their promotion.
In this techworld article, they showed that even Wall Street had a very "bad reaction" to the study news as industry stocks dropped.

I think there will be a lot of retooling necessary before we see a lot about RFID chips again.
You can still easily get them for pets though...
Maybe look for one that is made in a necklace/bracelet instead of one in the body. It just isn't natural or healthy.
