Question about hydrocodone? [lorotabs]?!

Question: i found a bottle of the pills in my cupboard [there my dads keep in mind] and for strength it says 10/650mg. is that a high dosage? my dad also takes percocet 80mg, which one is stronger?

this question is not related to drug abuse, [directly] but ino my mom took one of his pills once and i wanna know if she got a buzz off of it, like if it was strong enough [ive suspected my mom pops pills occassionally, not that half the world doesnt do it.]

No it's not a high dosage.
The percocet is stronger.
Some people feel pumped up when they take a lortab...they get a whole bunch of energy....those same people tend to be very annoying and don't realize it. They tend to also be very aggitated towards anything and everything and not know that either.
Some people feel all warm and fuzzy....a warm VERY relaxed feeling when they take one.
And then there are the people like me..that feel very nausated..lightheaded...very hot/like you have a fever hot...a nasty sick feeling from them.
It all depends on you. Over half of a lortab is asprin..or like ibprophen...motrin...I forget which one..you can buy it over the counter...it contains a VERY high amount of one of those pain relievers..then it has at least 200 mgs of caffine in there...which isn't a good idea. Some of those doses contain way too much of that pain reliever for alot of people..thus the sick feeling....it does damage to many of your organs too...sometimes really fast. It's very easy to overdose yourself with a lortab. My advice...don't take it.

If you get that sick feeling like I do...it lasts for at least 2 hours. Not much fun.

If your mom took it more than once...she felt something good from it...worthy of taking more than once. More likely than not..she got a "buzz" off of it. It all depends on one's pain level. My boyfriends mother takes three of those a day....along with at least one other dose of ibprophen later on in the day........all okayed and prescribed by a doctor.

They do often give more than one pain pill at a time. That isn't a sign of a drug user....that's a sign that someones in SERIOUS pain. They don't just hand that stuff out. To be prescribed to it for more than one month...something has to be wrong........athritis and bone spur...back pain...hearniated disk..and so on. PAIN. No judgement. No judgement on you either.

what he is taking is vicodin and the mid line dose. if he is also taking percocet he is a druggy plain and simple.

I don't think your suppose to be on hydrocodone and percocet at the same time they both contian acetamenophin and that is not good for your liver of stomach. He is also taking the highest recommened dose of percocet. Hope that helps.

I agree with the other guy -- if he's taking both, you should worry. They first give hydrocodone and then when that doesn't work as well they move up to oxycodone. There is NO reason to use both.

Yes, it can give you a buzz. But it might not all the time depending on the dosage and tolerance level of the person.

Either way, both are opiates and addictive, so they won't be able to just stop using them cold turkey. To do so would actually be dangerous.

If your parents start building up too much of a tolerance to these two meds, Oxycontin is the next level up. That's an even harder habit to kick, so you might want to keep your eye on some alternatives for them in terms of dealing with pain.

Personally, I was on both for a back injury (not at the same time, though). It was just trying to strike a balance between my excruciating pain level or my doped-up level. My doc weaned me off the oxycodone and now I just take Tylenol w/codeine on an "as needed" basis. It's not as strong and doesn't give me as much of a high where I can't think or function. But it can cut the pain in an emergency.

Good luck!

... not even close to judging on this. My ex first called me a percocet junkie and then later a speed freak -- simply because he saw the pills. (If I take percocet, I then also have to take uppers so I'm not sleeping half my day away.)

People that don't deal with chronic pain might be quick to judge. Many of my friends didn't even know that I was often sick to my stomach simply because the pain was so bad without the meds. I also couldn't concentrate.

That's why I said that's it's really up to the person and their doc to figure out what the right mix is in terms of meds. It took me three years to get it right. Here's a source I found:

Rx does not mean not a drug user. Since the MD is a licenced drug dealer. If he is on drugs he is using them. Its all about money whether prescribed or on the street.

This will sound like an anti drug ad but normally there is no reason for a person to be on tons of drugs. It usually means they doctor has no idea what is wrong so here try this.

Think about it, you have this, this, and that wrong with you. Its because you dont have enough of this drug in your system?

Hell 75% of his problems are probably caused by the drugs he is on. But here, we have a drug for that too!

I would just like to remind of all you, that until you have been in excruciating, unending, intractible pain all day, every day, not a single one of you has ANY right to judge this man, or this woman. And this is said by a woman who's never had percocet or lorotabs in her life. A little respect here for someone else's path people. None of you know what it's like until you've walked in their shoes. Easy to judge, not so easy to live through. Pain is chemically mind and physically altering. You all just have no idea what it can do to a person.

Loratab puts me to sleep. Some ppl have the opposite reaction and it makes them really pumped up.
