Oral Chelation. Is it Safe? Does it work? how fast can I expect results?!

Question: If you mean chelation under medical care, to remove a poison or heavy metals, then yes- it works. Is it safe? Well, that's sort of debateable. It is safer than leaving the poison in you, but along with the poison it leaches other necessary things from your body. If you are refering to the various potions sold in shops that promise to do the removal, their effectiveness is doubtful. And it can be harmful, if not done correctly or the wrong things are used. There have been deaths associated with botched self chelation therapy. Anything that is strong enough to actually effectively remove things like mercury will be extemely hard on the kidneys, and can remove other elements like calcium from your body. If enough calcium is removed, you will die of heart failure in short shrift. In most cases, though, the stuff sold in shops isn't particularly effective. A lot of them are heavy on the cilantro, for some reason- and it's just not that effective at what they claim it can do. Chelation with EDTA can also kill you if not done correctly, and it has side effects as well. So I would recommend you give this some really serious consideration before going ahead with it. Actually, I'd recommend not doing it at all. If you think you have that much of a problem that chelation is necessary, it really should be done in the hospital under supervision by somebody who at least knows how to treat the complications.

Oral Chelation is not recommended, in fact there is a good reason to believe that it is potentially very harmful. Even advocates for intravenous chelation therapies are issuing warnings against this type of treatment. I'm going to list several websites for you to view, but ultimately it is your decision to believe what you want to believe. Just like any subject that causes one to draw an opinion, it is your responsibility to weigh the evidence about chelation therapy, and make a decision that is right for you.
