Has anyone ever had a twisted spine ?!

Question: Yes. Mine was caused by a birth defect - missing bones at the base of my spine. It wasn't discovered until I was 20! Straightening up my spine (chiropractor) did worlds of good for many areas of my health, including monthly passing out episodes. The MDs kept saying it was nothing and would pass! They even took x-rays and didn't notice the spine or missing bones. The chiro showed me the missing bones and the malformed one (miniature) on the x-ray, as well as the twisting in my spine.

  • I had scoliosis..which is a crooked spine.
Now I have rods in my back to keep me straight

    why do you ask?
why do you mean by twisted?

twisted spine - not familiar with that concept.

I have scolosis the curvature of the spine. Was that what you were wanting to ask.

A very common cause of scoliosis is an anatomical short leg. Unfortunately, many MDs still believe in watching and waiting until either a brace or surgery is required. That is so sad because so many cases clearly benefit from conservative care. The worst case I had came from a supposed specialty hospital, Scottish Rite. They used rods in the mid back, not stabilizing the low back that curved in the opposite direction. The young lady had a 1 inch short leg that responded to a specialized sole lift on her shoe. This immediately corrected her low back and the pain, but alas, the mid back was not out of balance. In her case I believe the rods were worse than unnecessary. Moral: Get an alternative opinion!

This is an extremely simplified way to tell you you have a spinal curvature, which can also be called a mild scoliosis. Do you have pain? This is the kind of thing Chiropractors and/or physical therapists tell their patients to get them to understand what the cause of their problems are. Best luck.
