it looks kinda like a tube shaped potato...it's a really thick root...the Safeway in my area sells it...it's strong though...I chew little pieces of it to knock out coughs & that tickle in the back of my throat that I get before I catch a cold...

It's GREAT for you!

yes most grocery stores have them walmart even does, I make tea from them, they're are a bit hot, It will make you sweat and help clear out toxins from your body.

ginger root looks like a grnarled up piece of tree... the root of it. It's usually about three or four inches long. If I was you, I'd try to buy it in a farmer's market. If you get it from your local store, bend it. It should be firm. I bought some from a local store here, and it was rubbery and moldy. If you find the good stuff, it's great for making chai tea, or herbal teas. Good luck!

Fresh ginger will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator or several months in the freezer. Since freezing makes it easier to peel, slice and crush, you might as well freeze it as soon as you buy it......
I juice a carrot, apple, ginger and sometimes a small piece of beet,,,,,
every other day that is good for cleaning the liver to get rid of toxic....Our livers can use a little help....If I liver is not working we are easier to have the com mom cold and headaches.

Good Luck, Have fun

I have never heard of taking ginger for a headache. It is a carminitive (expels gas), anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, expectorant (gets phlegm up), vasodilator, anti-emetic (keeps you from throwing up) and diaphoretic (increases sweating).

Yes, it is available at the grocery and there are already a photo link and good descriptions on here. You can even plant a piece of fresh ginger and grow a pretty little houseplant. Then dig the root up when you're tired of fooling with the plant. It is tropical so I sometimes grow it on the porch in the summer and dig it up in the fall.

It is anti-viral and anti-bacterial.
It aids in digestion.
It is great for flu colds and cough.
It help to rid the stomachof gas.
It looks like deformed fingers and most supermarkets sell it.
You can brew a small piece and drink with honey.
You can add it to fish poultry and other meats.
I also throwa piece into soups.
It is very healthy for you.
