It's more than a little lead in a couple toys, for crying out loud!
Pet food was toxic and animals died, and a whole of toxic toys are still on the shelf.
A lot of things made in this country are unsafe, too. It's best to try to go natural as much as possible and do without certain things if they might be unsafe. Getting back to the basics seems like the way to go now.
whats the big deal? the majority of things are made in china. They arent diseased, they wont poison your medication! they follow strict rules.
I think you might be scared of something with Asia, like maybe diseases or something else.
I understand. All the recent banning of items and recalls of items from China have been a serious problem. From lead in the paints on children's toys to malamine in the pet food ingredients. If anyone doesn't know about all the problems the USA and rest of the world has been having with Chinese imports they've had their heads in the sand. Chinese do not police well, but when they catch someone causing a problem with the world trade,they usually execute them. The last person actually committed suicide before the Chinese gov't could put them on trial. The Chinese don't seem to want to watch until they get caught. Talk about the all mighty dollar (or whatever Chinese currency is).
I've been checking my food labels for Chinese ingredients if possible. But the biggest problem is food doesn't have to label country of origin. Some makers will though. And, as in the pet food, it was an ingredient, not a total import, so that would be even harder to trace. I know that many parents were actually buying lead test kits to test their kids' toys. Many found excessive amounts of lead in the toys and threw out some of their children's favorites.
Best bet, buy local, eat all natural, and forego OTC and pharmaceuticals for natural remedies you can find locally if possible. It will be pretty hard to trace all that is Chinese and potentially harmful. It may help you to know that the gov't actually turns away a lot of Chinese products at the borders for violations. So, they are catching some, just not enough.
What we really need is a total moratorium on Chinese made until they shape up before they ship out.
The raw material for pharmaceutical drugs : APIs = active pharmaceutical ingredients, are usually manufactured in China, India, Korea, etc.
Reason: low-cost of production.
