Fish oil and immunity?!

Question: Hello. I would like to take fish oil supplements but I am concerned about weakening my immune system. It is impaired already due to the removal of my spleen. Does anyone have and insight into this? Thanks!

The key link between fatty acids and immune function is the production of eicosanoids. These eicosanoids can be synthesised from both omega-6 and omega-3, but then have different effects on inflammation. Following DHA supplementation, higher synthesis rates of mediators of the omega-3-series can be observed.
Thus DHA has a variety of positive immune-modulating effects.

Many studies reiterate these findings, to the point where Omega 3 DHA and EPA is even recommended for infant and fetal development, on both a physical and neurological scale.

I suggest that you take a look at this article:

I take Omega 3 capsules from Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon. I enjoy the health benefits from taking them.
I hope this helps.
BEST WISHES!

Fish that live in the oceans will have some contaminants that they absorb.... however, any company that sells Fish Oil that has at least a mediocre quality will use Molecular Distillation, as that is currently the only safe way to remove any trace contaminants of any heavy metals (like Mercury and PCBs). It's basically an industry standard for basic quality and safety with any marine-based products.

Also, wild fish are a better source for Fish Oil because many fish farms use antibiotics and other chemicals that can be detrimental to people if they are ingested in larger quantities (meaning if you take Fish Oil on a regular basis).

I prefer Arctic Cod oil, it is fairly clean.

Fish oil will not weaken your immune system in any way whatever.

If you consume large amounts of table sugar (sucrose), that will certainly weaken your immune system and you are better off without it.
