Is there any support out there for someone who want to be a massage therapist but no one takes him seriously?!
Question: I'm a male LMP since 1999. Really research the schools in your area. There a lot of them that don't teach you what you really need to know. It's sad but corporate America is entering the massage education field. After you've found a good school there will be lots of people there to support you. I for one support you.
If people think you want to get into it for rubbing down a lovely lady you can tell them the truth. The truth is majority of the people you'll end up working on will not be that lovely lady. Overweight, smelly, acne, and what not. But that doesn't matter to you as you want to be a massage therapist to help people right.

Go take massage classes. Aducate yourself.

No one supports you cuz they think that you want to use it as a means to rub down girls.
Tell them that its not a matter of rubbing girls and that you dont mind even rubbing down a sweaty old fat man with the same passion and disconnection as you would rub a hot young woman, cuz ITS A JOB, not a means to get off.
Go to massage school, and make it a career
There are folks that would be the same way to you if you were going into Medical school.Don't let them discourage you.
My peers in my home town were skeptical when I went full time as well.
Time has made fools of them all. I have a good practice and am doing as many male massages as I do female.
It is a job, albeit a great one.
We will support you as long as you keep up our standards.
Why wouldn't they support you? People will only take you seriously, if you take yourself seriously. Life is short do want you want as long as its for the greater good.
