Is anyone out there managing an illness without medication successfully, using natural remedies, nutrition etc!

Question: I had severely high cholesteral and I refused to take the prescription meds my doctor wanted to give me. I researched which supplements to take, herbs, and nutrition. I retested in 1 1/2 months and my cholesteral reading was perfect! My doctor was amazed.

I also use bio-identical hormone cream for peri-menopause. It works wonderfully and I knew when the time came that I would never use conventional Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Another time I was getting severe hives for months and the doctors want to put you on steroids and antihistamines. No way! Again I did my research and I did a 30 day colonix and detox and never had hives again!

If you do your homework you can usually find something that works other than precscription meds. Now, on the other hand, there are times you do need prescription meds. I had strep throat and had to take antibiotics.

You just have to do what feels right for you and listen to your body.

I have Hyperthyroidism, celiac disease, and peri-menopause and i use all natural and bio-identicals for these. And i feel better than i ever did before, Synthetic drugs did not help me, and sometimes there side effects were worse than the original problem to begin with. Yahoo groups is great , i belong to the natural med group and they have lots of advice, tips, and help too.

I can't say I am because I never got diagnosis'
but I use to (self diagnosis) have narcolepsy, seasonal affective disorder, Raynauds and Chronic fatigue symptoms. I figured out what supplements would work for what. So far this winter I don't fall asleep doing things, I haven't been depressed or freezing because of the cold weather and I haven't had my usual aches.
I feel better than I did when I was in my 20's even.

When my chow had cancer I gave her supplements for cancer and her fur grew back, she quit throwing up, she started eating again and she even started playing like a puppy again rather than laying there dying.

Pretty much all illnesses evolve from an improperly working immune system. The best way to stay healthy is to nourish your immune system, with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and clean fresh filtered water. Some daily walking will help your body get stronger. However, if you have any kind of lump, please see a specialist.

I was diagnosed when I was 16 (9 yrs ago) with major depression. I had a baby 6 months ago, and decided not to take the medication during my pregnancy and after. What I did instead was I take B vitamin supplements, a multivitamin, and I do yoga before bed. The B vitamins are a super stress buster vitamin, the multivitamin keeps me feeling healthy, and the yoga relaxes me and strengthens my body too. So, I have been off the Citalopram for like 9 months now, and there are some days I think maybe I should go back on them, but I just do some extra relaxation yoga and I feel much better... so there are ways to naturally and minimally help an illness work itself out... I'm proof!

I have Osteoarthritis in the hips and have done so for the last 17 years.
I haven't taken pain killers to manage it for over 12 years and have done very well with a combination of Osteopathic treatment, life style changes and Glucosamin and Chondroitin sulphate.
I still haven't quite won the battle of keeping the weight down and don't exercise as much as I really should.....
