Question: A couple of Australian scientists discovered and developed a way to deliver chemo directly to cancer cells through use of bacteria. the bacteria is pumped full of the cancer treating chemicals, it is then released into the body. The bacteria is designed to only attach to the cancer cells which then consume it. As the bacteria is broken down by the cancer cells the chemo is released directly into the cancer. Little to no side effects have been noted in this technique. It is still under development and testing prior to approval.
The really clever individual who developed this approach was Dr Jennifer MacDiarmid.
