I recently did my reiki 1 course and was told I was connected to another energy will this affect my reiki?!

No. There are healers proficient in more than one healing modality.
No, it won't matter. The "energy" is all completely imaginary, so being "connected" to the tooth fairy or to Lord Voldemort won't affect anything at all.
