Anyone been to a chiropractic. Good or bad stories please. Did it make things better or worse. Thanks?!

Question: Definitely, a resounding YES! My first time was when my husband went for his "let's see attitude session". I had been having headaches associated with stress and tiredness, in short, it felt as though my torso was pulling down my head. I heard the ahhs and ohhs of the patients, got intrigued, told the old lady/chiropractor about my headache, she offered to realign me, i willingly agreed and to my disbelief, she freed my neck from the weight of my head. My head felt so heavy on top of my shoulders, after she did her magic, the heaviness left me and that made me a great believer. That's when I learned that as women who had been giving birth to children (I did it 6times), we should be realigned after each pregnancy --- that was after my third baby. The weight of the baby could misalign our spine and after giving birth, it could give way to some body aches. God bless her soul, she died some 4 years ago but God is so good, God introduced me to another good one. So every now and then, I have my tune-ups. First, ask around for a good one. Talk to his former patients. There are very good ones and also some so-so chiropractors. The key is not to give up after one session with one. Sometimes, our personality preferences also comes into the picture. Goodluck!

loads better! Brilliant relief from aches and pains....no horror stories! would recommend 100%

They can be useful or lower back pain and for problems associated with the neck. So-called conventional medicine doesn't have a treatment for these conditions. Despite the silly names we give them (slipped disc, trapped nerve) they are usually caused by the muscles around the spine going into spasm. What chiropractors do relaxes these muscles and reduces pain.

I go to mine regularly for "tune-ups," and have found great relief for back pain, spasms, and headaches.

Yes, I have indeed been and highly recommend you try it. A good chiropractor can do wonders. Now, if you get told in the office that he can cure cancer, help you get pregnant, improve circulation, that is anything other than improvement in pain and function, then leave for this is a quack, not a good chiropractor.

Aside to other commentators. Mainstream medicine actually DOES recognize spinal manipulations as being beneficial. Most doctors of medicine happily refer back pain patients. Many of these don't refer because they do their own spinal manipulations --> they are called Osteopaths, and have even more training than chiropractors do.

As to what you can expect. The doctor will assess you, often they take an xray of your back. Once diagnosed, you will be placed on a table and will be gently manipulated. The first couple of times it will hurt. A lot. But the pain goes away fast, and you will feel a lot better right away. The pain relief will last about 6 hours, the functional improvement about 2 days. After repeated sessions you should be back to normal.

In addition to seeing a chiropractor, may I suggest that you also start a pain medicine regimen, which will help you heal faster. Take 2 alleve by mouth with food twice a day for ten days. Trust me it works.

temporary relieve, very expensive but would go again

Chiropractice is a natural/alternative treatment it give the good results but no body can that makes worse. We can say if benefit one is not getting then sticking on the same is not useful.

You will get more help for skeletal and movement problems from a chiro. than you ever will from a medical doctor. In my opinion.

I always check out their certification and that they are a member of the professional body.

I also find osteopaths fantastic for skeletal / movement stuff.

Would recommend both, but always check out the qualifications.

It's a form of quackery.

I have heard from my friend and my brother that it made things much better.

I have been going to the chiropractor for a little more than two months. I hurt my back moving a bed, and was unable to stand up straight. I walked with my knees bent and bent over in the middle in the worst pain I have ever felt. I was told that I had lost the natural curve in my spine (the xrays have showed this to be true).
With adjustments twice a day, I am now able to stand up, almost pain free. All of my pain generated from the sciatic nerve. It hurt all the way down to my toes. Some of the adjustments were painful, like fire shooting down my leg, but dissipated within a couple of hours. It has been costly, but I have a great doctor that really cares. I would recommend chiropractic care for many things, mine has helped me tremendously. I was told that I was like one of ten in the 30+ years he's been in practice to come in such bad shape. It's been a challenge for both of us. Good luck to you!

My chiro cured my carpal tunnel with a few adjustments- (when my GP was ready to cut my wrists open!) now I get an adjustment regularly, and it feels great! No more migraines!

Of course, I have a REALLY good chiropractor....

Wonderful experience on a physical level. Financially, it drained me !
