What is your opinion on these health drink things. probiotics and good bacteria things,Do they help you?!

Question: Probiotics are very healthful, and replenish something that you should have in the first place, but our diet and dependance on drugs depletes.

Fermented drink is the best way to keep balance - kefir is a power packed probiotic drink that tastes good too. It is the consistency of a milk shake. We use it for our breakfast granola. It is a food, and not a nouveau miracle cure. The more you get via food, the better. You can also take a quality probiotic pill if you like - make sure it is a refrigerated type, since the bacteria are living.

Anytime you take antibiotics you should be replenishing the good bacteria they destroy with either yogurt, kefir or probiotic supplements - halfway between each antibiotic dosing. Then, you should continue after the antibiotic round to rebuild your good bacteria. All the antibacterial everything in our world is destroying our good bacteria and balance. Avoid anything that says antibacterial and you will be safer, and your gut will thank you. It is the loss of good bacteria that leads to repeat illnesses (relapse of bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.) and C Diff, which is life threatening.

Better yet, opt not to take the antibiotic, and use a natural antibiotic like Garlic, Honey, Grapefruit Seed Extract, or one of the many others. That is what we do - a great learning curve brought on by my son's allergy to antibiotics.

Keep it basic and simple. You don't need to go for a $10 drink of some exotic promise to make you the most energetic thing on the block. Just keep your water intake up and add a food like kefir to your diet and you will notice a huge difference.

They don't make them very appealing on their adverts so i haven't tried any yet

I am only on this earth once and i intend to live it how i like - good things or bad, cos when im gone thats that.

They are living in your intestines naturally anyway. The ones in the drinks tend to get killed as soon as they hit the acid in your stomach. There is no scientific evidence that they actually help in any way.

I read an article that they actually give elderly people in hospital Danone actimel to help them fight infections.

Pro biotics keep the "good bacteria" at healthy levels so they can help fight off invasive viruses and bacteria. Yogurt is a good example that has been around for awhile. It is sometimes used to treat yeast infections, as well as the new ones that regulate digestion.

ha they just make me windy, but they do help a bit with the bloated felling x

I tried these a couple of years ago for about two weeks, didn't change my diet other than with these and ended up with very painful constipation. I don't know what they're meant to to nor do I know how, but on the whole I think they're of little benefit.

I'm opposed to tampering with something if you don't know it's broken. It's a delicate balance. Besides, a lot of bacteria that is ingested is killed by the stomach juices anyways.

I tried a yogurt once to help with regularity and was gross. I ate raisin bran instead. simple fix!

I tried them for a good six months - didn't make the slightest bit of difference to me as far as I know ! -

Definitely help me - I have one every day !

All of doubtful value methinks.

I have found yogurt to be helpful for certain types of diarrhea. The idea of probiotic is using benign bacteia to displace harmful bacteria.

I thought it was a lot of **** until I tried the yogurts. They do help the" bloated feeling" and the kiwi and fig flavours are scrummy too

I used to suffer from chronic fatigue and then I tried LB17 probiotic which has been very helpful. I feel like i'm ten years younger and am very alert and the number of colds and coughs that i get has declined dramatically. Yes, they have certainly helped me.

I used probiotics after a cleanse. I was on the cleanse for 2 weeks and used them to replace the good bacteria I had "cleansed" out. They didn't do anything bad and all seems good so I would def. recommend them after a cleanse- just to take- I don't know that you would really need them?

not me anyway''

If you don't have intestinal problems don't take them, but if you have intestinal problems and want relief, it is the best way to go.
