Alternative medicine, religion, psychics, UFOs and 911 conspiracies have nothing really in common with each other. Some are beliefs, some are proven, some are just ideas.
Just because you don't believe in any of them doesn't mean to say that other people can't or don't.

I am assuming you mean extraterrestrial life when you say UFO, almost half the population in the U.S. believes in UFO's, so whats your point. I believe that proper sunbathing creates vitamin D in the body which cuts the chance of some diseases in half, does that make me a crazy conspiracy theorist? By the way, if you don't believe that the sun heals then study the U.S. sun belt and the disease rate in the northern U.S. compared to the southern US.
There are ALWAYS going to be people like you who don't believe in a universal creative force, the power of focused intent, super nutrition, oxygen therapy, keeping a high immune system, keeping stress very low, on and on.
Because according to you, all man made chemicals heal, diet soda is better then water, conventional food is better then organically grown food, smog is good for the lungs, fluoride is a super food and everything is a placebo.

Sometime, if you believe in something strongly enough (herbal meds ) they actually will work. It's like mind over matter.
As far as believing in other things (religion, UFOs) that would be a personal preference.
Why can't you believe in alt. med and mainstream medicine? I'm a massage therapist, which falls under alt. med. and my entire rest of the family is nurses or medical researchers, which. There is a time and place for each. For everyday ailments, muscle strains, trouble sleeping and the like, I like to use alt. medicine so as not to get addicted. But for bigger issues, i.e. cancer, heart issues, etc. I believe that mainstream medicine is the way to go. Plus who has the time to go wait for a doctor's visit and pay for prescription drugs for easy things when there's plenty of herbal remedies or manipulation therapy out there to help.
Just because some people like to not get hooked on prescription drugs does not make them bizarre, they are just trying what works for them. It may not be what works for you, oh well.
