Negative Research on Colon Cleansing?!

Question: I have been suggested by several people to do a colon cleanse. However, I want to research it. I have read many stories to support it. I also have read various companies websites and all that. I know there is some contreversy over them and was hoping someone could point me to some valid research on the subject.

If it fixed ANYTHING, it would have medical support. It has none - what does that tell you?

If you have Showtime, maybe you can catch the Bullsh*t episode where Penn & Teller looked at this subject. They thought it was complete BS. I'm not so sure, I say it can't hurt and could help.
