My little brother has dechenne muscular dystrophy, and we know of no cure for it.. I really wish we did for all the children with M..D..'s sake.. I know stretching the muscle helps a lot with the child comfort level and the pain they expierence.. A warm pool is also very good for them, they can move in a pool, and it helps.. The more you work with your child on stretching and keeping the muscles in shape the longer you can prolong your child's ability to walk.. They have special Muscular Dystrophy Doctors, and they are helpful, but it takes a long time to get in there, so start right away! Definately get the boots to put on your childs legs that they will offer, it helps keep the achilies tendent straight overnight, and it helps.. They are working on a cure for M..D.., and I know I'm hoping and praying every day.. My little brother is only 10 and already in a wheelchair, we didnt know to work with him in time, and we didnt do it enough.. So please take my advice and really make sure to stretch your child every day.. I hope this helps!!! I'll be praying for you and your child too! Be strong!Health Question & Answer

I don't know a cure, but try searching the web.. But before you even do that, take him to the doctor.. Don't have insurance to cover.? You're kid is worth every penny you've got, so don't worry about money, worry about your kid, he's a person, and he's depending on you..

I did a bit of looking around:

Conventional Medicine

Symptoms often can be relieved through exercise, physical therapy, rehabilitative devices, respiratory care, and surgery..

* Exercise and physical therapy can minimize abnormal or painful positioning of the joints and may prevent or delay curvature of the spine.. Respiratory care, deep breathing, and coughing exercises are often recommended..
* Canes, powered wheelchairs, and other rehabilitative devices can help sufferers maintain mobility and independence..
* Surgery can sometimes relieve muscle shortening.. In Emery-Dreifuss and myotonic muscular dystrophy, it's often necessary to surgically implant a cardiac pacemaker..

In some cases, disease progression can be slowed or symptoms relieved with medicine..

* In Duchenne muscular dystrophy, corticosteriods may slow muscle destruction..
* In myotonic muscular dystrophy, phenytoin, procainamide or quinine can treat delayed muscle relaxation..

Medications also can be prescribed for some muscular dystrophy-related heart problems..Health Question & Answer
