Hey man! Good to hear from you.. I have an anxiety problem that comes when night falls, never fails.. Here are my findings........
Anything that is a would-be metabolic jumpstart or that has a caffeine like effect is probably bot so good of an idea because the side effects can outweigh the benifits (aka Phen based products, coffee, chocolate, ect......)
St.. Johns wart is an interesting albeit sometimes dangerous tool.. It acts much like a weak herbal prozac in the way that it is a Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitor.. It keeps the Serotonin in the recepters thereby slowing or stoping the natural reuptake cycle.. This works for a while but then the body will realize something is amiss and slow or halt production of serotonin in general.. That's no fun at all..
The best solution that worked for me is a supplement called 5-HTP.. Seratonin cannot be formed in the body without a couple of precursers.. It all starts with tryptophan.. You know, that stuff that makes you sleepy after a turkey dinner.. Tryptophan, in turn, becomes 5-HTP and is one step closer to becoming serotonin.. 5-HTP is also much more permiable to the blood/brain membrane than tryptophan is.. So now not only are you allowing your body to maintain balance by not interfering with the re uptake cycle, but you are giving the body what it needs in an easy form to make as much seratonin as you can use all the time, and only when the body deems it necessary..
Hope this helps..Health Question & Answer

One of the best natural anti-anxiety products that I have found is L-Theanine.. It is an amino acid that is extracted fom Green Tea.. For severe anxiety try 200 mg once or twice a day.. You can take more, however the FDA recommends no more than 600 mg in 6 hours.. L-Theanine is very safe and will not make you feel groggy or "hung over"..Health Question & Answer
