What alternative health options are there instead of knee replacements?!

Question: What alternative health options are there instead of knee replacements.?
It seems like there could be something; diet, something alternative to drugs to at least lessen the chance of the knee becoming even worse.. I really don't want that surgery (or to get a "scooter" thing, which seem kind of like giving up........)Health Question & Answer

Check out MBT's! It's a shoe that helps decrease the stress on your knees and hips.. It also tones up your muscle all the way up to your abs.. And increases your posture.. also increases circulation to your legs..

I've had many people tell me that it's helped them walk again.. Lots of nurses and other professionals that have to walk a lot wear them.. Along with people who have had knee surgeries..

Believe me, just go to their website to find a store near you.. Even just trying them on makes most people want to buy them..Health Question & Answer

The question is; How far gone(worn) are your knees.? What actually is the cause of the deterioration.?

IF it's just arthritis in it's EARLY stages there are some dietary changes that can be made that will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the symptoms associated with the condition but nothing will reverse the actual pathology..

A Naturopath who Specializes in this area will be of immense help for you..

I can't specify specific changes as they are all specific & thus different for each individuals underlying pathologies..

My nonna had to have both knees replaced with titanium implants at the age of 81 & 82 respectively for each knee as they were replaced one at a time..
Her knees prior to the operation were locking up on her constantly...... yes...... locking up..
At that point; the knees were so worn that no diet change could possibly have anything affect in that area..

Previously for about 12 months drinking large amounts of cod liver oil each day (at least 3X the daily requirement of Omega 3's) & saw no effect what so ever..
I'm not condoning drinking massive amounts of fish oil as one single food isn't going to cure the problem; but this is just an example of the measures she undertook..

If it does turn out that your knees are in an advanced stage; please be aware that when performed properly, knee replacements do give you a new lease of life; I've seen the effects first hand!
At the age of 90 she's still completely mobile and doesn't need anyones assistance with getting in and out of the car, stairs or walking around the whole day shopping..

So if worst comes to worst; don't think of the replacements as being the worst case scenario> Much the opposite in fact..

I used to walk every day in the morning in the park and had to give that up four years ago when my knee couldn't take it anymore..

I too have postponed the replacement surgery (I'm 76) and may do it this winter..

I go to the Y at least two times a week and do water-walking for 30 minutes or more and also some Pilates leg movements in the water to keep the muscles in my legs strong and more supportive of the weak knee..Health Question & Answer
