Toe painful anyone any ideas what it could be?!

Question: Toe painful anyone any ideas what it could be.?
Toe painful anyone any ideas what it could be.?
I am 66 and do have rheumatoid and osteoarthriris.. I cannot take any drugs for it as I am allergic badly to salicylates and antiinflammatories..

My little toe on my right foot is very itchiing.. It is like an insect bite that you scratch and it gets worse after a good scratch that of course makes it no better..

It is not any bigger than usual and it seems to be the side fo the toe and it is red only when it is itching.. Then it calms down and seems to be OK for a while before starting again, usually in bed.. I hav ahd this for a few nights in bed and cannot think of any good reason..

I thought it might be gout but ruled it out for now..

Anyoen any ideas.? Not been to GP as he can't give me any drugs for it and generally looks at me and asks if I have any remedies.. Do not see a consultant as they can't help even re the RA which is serum negative for those GP and nurses amongst you..

Answers:
Try going to a chiropodist for a foot check...... some shoe shops ie scholl offer this free.. They will be able to tell you if it is athletes foot or perhaps an allergic reaction.. Are the seams on your sock irritating your toes.? Does it happen just when your feet get warm in bed etc.. maybe its a heat rash and keeping your feet cool or a simple antihistamine cream or tablet may work.. (Check with your pharmacist that there are no drug interactions with meds you are on)..Health Question & Answer
