Is sunscreen toxic? I have lupus and am chemically sensitive; am I harming myself w/sunscreen?!

Question: Is sunscreen toxic.? I have lupus and am chemically sensitive; am I harming myself w/sunscreen.?
The irony is that I have to use SPF because UV causes lupus flare-ups, but I am worried about the chemicals that are being absorbed into my body.. I use Neutrogena sunscreen which is dermatologist recommended.. There are organic sunscreens but they don't have the SPF power that non-organics offer.. Health Question & Answer

First of all, if you don't have a topical reaction (redness, itching, etc..) then it's fine..

Second of all, if your dermatologist recommended it, don't worry.. He's aware of your skin condition and tolerances..

Third of all, ALL sunscreens are put on all people's skin.. If there were any toxins, a) the government wouldn't allow it, and b) people would be reacting all over the world, from Coney Island to the French Riviera..Health Question & Answer
