Why didn't I poop for 7 days after a colonic?!

Question: Why didn't I poop for 7 days after a colonic.?
I used to love having colonics.. My first one was 10 years ago and was fine.. I then had them once a year for a few years then stopped.. 3 years ago I decided to take the advice of the colonic nurse and have three over three weeks.. As it had been 4 years since the last one, I reacted strangely and threw up about 20 mins into the treatment.. The second one was fine but the third one went wrong.. I didn't poop for 7 days!! by day six i was stuffing down prunes, prune juice, mild herbal laxative and finally on day 8 i pooped.. i've never been back.. what went wrong.? did my body get too reliant on the colonics.? I highly recommend them still for others who are really sick but don't think they are for me anymore..Health Question & Answer

I would call the doctor's office where the colonic was done...... or if you did it yourself, I would call your local clinic to be on the safe side..
My best educated guess would be that you flushed out more of your feces than you expected and it just took a few days to replenish it so there was enough pressure in your intestines to feel the urge to poop...... like you didn't have the poop to poop ;-).. A doctor or nurse may have better information/details for you, though..
also, one important thing to note is that after you do any colonic or intestinal flushing, you really should take a probiotic of some sort (in pill form or even in yogurt) to replenish the beneficial bacteria that live in your intestinal tract.. Without those probiotics, you won't properly process your nutrients through your intestines, and it can really throw off your bowel movements.. People often complain of irregularity within a month after colonic treatments or whenever they are low on probiotics..
I'm not sure why you threw up...... but if the water pressure did get too high, it might have impacted your stomach or upper intestinal area enough where it made you queasy...... or it could have been something completely unrelated.. Your body may have gotten too used to the colonics (which can happen all too easily, unfortunately), but a doctor or nurse should be able to clarify that for you..

Your body is trying to tell you that what you are doing isn't good.. Vomiting is a sign of something WRONG.. Constipation is a sign of something WRONG..

How natural is it, to ignore the messages your body is giving you.?Health Question & Answer

The times I've gone, Doc has instructed me NOT to eat for that 24 hour period.. Then after knowing that my body is cleansed why "pollute" it again.. So I would slack up on the eating and guess what not that much fecal matter.. The cleansing done it's job..

When you clean yourself out as good as you did with the colonics, which is fine, then it takes your body a while to build back up any matter in the colon in order to have another bowel movement.. In other words, you're so cleaned out, there's nothing for you to poop! Your reactions to the colonics were normal.. As for the vomiting part, it just depends on what kind of 'junk' you've put into your body since you had your last colonic.. If you've taken meds for anything or had surgery with anesthesia, that would be all it takes for that kind of reaction..Health Question & Answer
