I am having some pain right now where there is an abscess on my pelvic area and I want to take something for it.. I have some ibuprofen 600MG, but it says discard after 5-01-08.. Is it ok to go ahead and take that.? I also have Tylenol but it is only for pain.. With an abscess you need something for the pain and the infection like ibuprofen.. So are there an other types of meds I can take that are over the counter or not that are similar to ibuprofen.?Health Question & Answer

over the counter meds are usually still good for a year after exp date.. but i suggest going to a wal-mart or dollar tree and get a new bottle.. u can get a bottle of 50- 200mg tablets of ibuprofen for a dollar at a dollar tree or dollar store.. it is the same as costly name brands.. you may also need to see a doctor for antibiotics like cephalozoin or augmentin to help heal abcess..Health Question & Answer
Meds being out of date just means they aren't as effective as they were before the exp.. date.. Try putting blistex in the white tube on it.. It can draw infection out faster than even antibiotics..Health Question & Answer
