Anti-Depressants + Weed a bad combination?!

Question: Anti-Depressants + Weed a bad combination.?
It's really hard for me to quit. When I'm off it I think about being on it, and when I'm on it I think about how I need to quit. I quit for an entire month, then I stupidly, Stupidly smoked again after starting medication. The medication seemed to intensify the cravings so I gave in during a moment of weakness. Now I'm back to ground zero. I'm 19 & been smoking for 5 years so it's engraved into my lifestyle, if you will. That's a little extra info but the real question is: How do anti-depressants mix with marijuana.? Does the marijuana screw up the job of the anti-depressants.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Very, very bad combo. You're correct. At the bare minimum, marijuana drastically reduces the effectiveness of antidepressants, reduces them to the point where they don't do much at all. It's essentially impossible to treat depression when someone is regularly using weed. On the other end of things, marijuana and antidepressants can have some very strange effects together, panic, anxiety, weed not working, increased symptoms of depression, and some even more odd ones that I can't recall offhand because it's late.

Since you tried to stop, and you can't, and you're having constant cravings, that speaks of addiction. It might be worth your time to look into Marijuana Anonymous, or another legitimate program for treating people who can't stop using. Your depression basically isn't treatable until you do so.

The person below is totally incorrect. The endocannabinoid system is involved in the regulation and control of neurotransmitter production, particularly the three monoamines. Marijuana alters the production and distribution of these chemicals throughout the entire brain, as well as being involved in other aspects of body metabolism. There is very good clinical documentation of this. Just because two things don't act on the same receptors does NOT mean they cannot interact.Health Question & Answer

no marijuana will not affect the way anti depressants interact with your body... THC the main alkaloid found in cannabis attaches itself to the CB1 and CB2 receptors found in the central nervous system...
serotonin on the other hand attaches itself to the (5-HT) receptors which are no where near where THC has its mode of action...
so don't worry about any adverse effects
you should be fine!
i would worry more about the anti- depressants than i would marijuana cause its one of the safest drugs that will enter your body
