Chinese detox foot patches...?!
Question: Chinese detox foot patches....?
Has anyone tried them.? Are they a scam, or something worthwhile.? I bought some, and they never stopped turning brown and gross like in the commercial, BUT when I put them on before bed, my legs get all tingly and sleep like a bump on a log! It also seems to calm my PMS a bit. So the jury's out for me, but they DO seem to be very relaxing. Any opinions.?Health Question & Answer

Scam.
One of their ingredients is wood vinegar (pyroligneous acid) - it attracts and absorbs water in the same way those little silicon packets that come in electronic equipment do.If there is any moisture around, wood vinegar will absorb it and make a brown mush. The other main ingredient is basically sugar, which obviously gets sticky in sweat.
Ben Goldacre suggests the following experiment - take a patch and squirt some water onto it, then pop a nice hot cup of tea onto it and wait ten minutes. You'll se a brown sludge forming. There are no toxins in porcelain.
Scam. Amy benefits you feel are likely to be a placebo effect or coincidence.

They are a scam. Any effect you are having is probably just a placebo effect.
I read an article that said that some used pads were tested in a lab, and they didn't contain any toxins at all. They should be forced off the market, but for some reason nothing is done about consumers being ripped off.

I believe they are fake Japanese, and not fake Chinese medicine but that's not the most important issue here. They are a completely and utter fraud. They do NOTHING for your health. Please don't waste your money.Health Question & Answer
Basically they turn disgusting in response to your sweat, even the little bit that covers your skin at all time. There was a guy on here who posted... about a week ago I want to say who's feet went completely numb because they'd dried his skin out completely.Health Question & Answer
