Answers:
The best thing I ever found was by "Herbs for Kids" called "Willow and Garlic Ear Oil."

Echinacea and vitamin C are also advised. Dairy should be avoided.

These should be easy to find at a large grocery store, Whole Foods, or vitamin shop.

Just in case: a database of Florida free clinics:

Save your money, there is no "healing" herb that will cure an ear ache.

Most often these are caused by congestion of the Eustachian tube after a cold. Sometimes they become secondarily infected with bacteria and may need antibiotics, but not always. Use warm compresses and an analagesic like ibuprofen or acetominophen. (they are both much cheaper than Vit C or ANY herbal product you can get and actually work)
Encourage lots of fluids, and you can even get them to snort a little saline to clear out the mucus and help the ears to drain if you want to avoid decongestant meds. Some eucalyptus oil in steam will open them up too. (also pricey though)

If your child doesn't get better in a day or so, or continues to run a high fever or not get pain relief, then you should see a doctor. Hopefully theres a free clinic near you.

Goldenseal and echinacea are herbs I myself have taken for ear infections. I don't know why people are giving a thumbs down to that first answer, but he is right. It has been used for years as a natural anti-biotic. You can google goldenseal and exhinacea on your computer and read for yourself. I will say, however, an ear infection MUST be treated. Look up your state on google, and check for state health servies, county services, etc. You may very well qualify for medicaid. Have you looked into this.? Best of luck.Health Question & Answer

I agree with Dr Patrick and about the chiropractor and carzi about the garlic oil, both from personal experience. When my daughter was young and suffered from ear infections, i found the garlic oil was more effective than antibiotics. also try chamomile tea to help relax her. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

I think you would have MUCH better success with an herb called Goldenseal. Once you do have insurance, you really need to take her to a chiropractor.Health Question & Answer

SkepDoc is correct. Don't go sticking things in your daughter's ear like oils, garlic, whatever. Vitamin C will do zero. So-called natural antibiotics can be very dangerous. Health Question & Answer

well my co-worker swears by Oil of Oregano

Health Question & Answer

For an earache i would suggest garlic. Warm a bit of olive oil in a pan and add a clove of garlic. Let it cook for a couple of minutes on low heat and strain. After the oil is cool, place a couple drops in the affected ear and let it sit. You can do this a couple of times a day. Garlic is an antifungal and antibacterial and it will help fight off whatever is going on in her ear. As for vitamin C, I would not worry too much about getting rosehips. Yes they are very high in vitamin C, but you can easily get enough from eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Try increasing the amount of citrus fruits in your family's diet along with raw vegetables. also for your under the weather daughter, try offering her warm water with honey and lemon as ofter as possible. This will help boost her immune system. I hope this helps :) Best of luck.
