Question: Do I need a license to practice Thai Massage in the US.?
I'm studying Thai massage in Thailand. I would like to find a job or start my own clinic using this type of massage when I go to the States. Do I need a license for this.? What do I need to do and what kinds of jobs can I apply for.? Can I open my own clinic.? Do hospitals recognize traditional massage.?Health Question & Answer

Yes, you will need a license to practice thai massage because it is classified as a massage so you will have to have a license to charge money for it. Different states have different requirements.You wouldn't be able to get a job in a spa without further training, but you could rent a room in a massage clinic and just do Thai as your specialty. Yes you can open your own clinic if you desire. It would be good to find other therapists that specialize in Thai to help you. And I'm not sure if hospitals recognize Thai. You have to get a license to practice in whatever state you decide on moving to. Each state has different education requirements that need to be fulfilled before you can get a license so you will most likely need to go to massage school unless you choose to live in one of the few unlicensed states like Alaska, Montana .Health Question & Answer
