I have been a long time anxiety sufferer and from the time I was about fifteen until I was twenty, I smoked VERY frequently. Like, probably more than once a day everyday, and often more than five times a day. I will just tell you what happened to me. Sometimes I would be cool while I was high and I would be able to relax, other times I would have anxiety that was very hard to cope with especially in social situations. I quit smoking a year and nine months ago when I got pregnant, and I still have anxiety, but it was definitely worse while I was smoking every day. It's really a gamble. It calms some people down and others it will only make it worse. Do it, and if it does calm you down, keep it up. If you start noticing that you are having worse anxiety, please quit. I probably won't smoke regularly ever again, it did not help my overall mental well being. I think it only calms people down who naturally are not anxious, for those of us who are, it might make it worse. But really, if it makes you feel better and calms you down, do it, I know when I have anxiety I want to do anything to get rid of it. Good luck!!:)Health Question & Answer
