Does anyone know any techniques for stimulating out-of-the-box thinking?!

Question: Does anyone know any techniques for stimulating out-of-the-box thinking.?
I am choosing a career direction and I feel somehow that I need to invent something to do that hasn't been done, or hasn't been done in that form before, but the problem is that while I have cutting-edge thinking on a lot of things, I find that I'm always one step behind in this area. Does anyone know any mental/spiritual techniques for getting outside the limits of one's mind to come up with visionary answers to a problem when you're too close to the subject.?

Thanks.Health Question & Answer

Wow, that's a deep question and this is a pretty everyday technique, but it's a start. Try writing about your thoughts and doing simple tasks using your non-dominant hand. If you're a righty, spend a day using your left hand. Since you're right side is controlled by the left side of your brain (and vice versa, duh) using your non-dominant side sends some new electrical signals into the side of your brain that doesn't usually have to worry about handwriting and brushing your teeth, etc. It can kind of shake up your thinking.Health Question & Answer

Go to your public library and pick up a book by Marilyn Vos Savant. She has a column in the Sunday magazine section of your newspaper. Super high IQ and really good at explaining how to think like a genius and do mind exercises.Health Question & Answer

I don;t know how you feel about breaking the law but if you try smoking marijuana a couple times I promise you that you will be able to think much deeper (while feeling the effects of the drug).Health Question & Answer
