Question: What safe, non-prescription herb or remedy can I take to kill my appetite.?
I'm back up to 200 pounds. I'm 5'1'' I should weigh about 80 pounds less. I try to diet but it never lasts more than 3 days and I am bingeing again. I am very discouraged. Please don't recommend overeaters anonymous. That never worked for me.Health Question & Answer

Hoodia is a much disputed herbal plant from South Africa that has been claimed to reduce appetite... personally, I think it's a load of BS so don't fall for that one.

Other than that, I think the most effective natural means toward reducing your appetite would be through using super functional foods, as in nutritional powerhouses, to kick start and satisfy your body. One great product is called SALBA, which is the brand name used to market an ancient grain called Salvia Hispanica L. Studies were originally done on this product using people who suffered from diabetes, wherein it was discovered that the grain has outstanding potential in regulating blood sugar, and thus drastically reducing unnecessary food cravings. Upon a more in-depth look at the grain, it was discovered that it could be considered a "functional whole food", meaning it contains abundant levels of nutrients required to keep your body going.

In my opinion, the best--and possibly the only--way to reduce appetite is to get to the source of what is causing the unnecessary appetite, which in almost all cases is a nutritional deficiency. There is nothing inherently wrong with you for craving foods during dieting unless you have a compulsive eating disorder. Dieting restricts nourishment, which logically makes your body starved for copious amounts of food. My best advice for you is to replace, replace, replace... use a "funtional food" like Salba, to replace the nutrients you're missing while cutting calories, and your appetite should be 100% satisfied. Have you looked into intuitive eating.? Naturally there is no way to diet except to eat right and exercise and by eating right I mean learning what is nutritionally complete and eating those foods and eating a raw meal two times a day.

also there are digestive enzymes which you can get at any health food store that helps your body to break down the food you eat so it isn't just stored and fermented in your body.

Lets start with intuitive eating. Simply put its a relatively new natural approach that reforms a healthy relationship with you and food by teaching you to feel what your body wants to eat and it never tells you what you can and cannot for those who have tried it takes time but works wonders. That is the first link below.

Now when I talk about eating right if you don't want to look into the first menthod, then there is a fantastic book that again takes time but not only is helping my fiance loose weight but it his adding to his overall good health. The book is called 'The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose.' One of its core principles is we can loose weight if we have built up toxins and are eating nutritionally deplete foods. Which we all are guilty of, trust me I am still cleansing toxins a year later but for health not weight loss and I am not cleansing my fiance for weight loss. The book is the second link below.

Remember safe natural weight loss is never quick but it is always long lasting and you will feel better not just in but out. I started aiding my fiance earlier in January now in August he has lost 60 pounds, it doesnt sound like much but he is not only weighing less but his skin is now more radiant, and he has more vibrancy to him.

Best of luck I know you can do it. I hope this helps.Health Question & Answer
