A question with enemas and fasting.?!

Question: A question with enemas and fasting..?
I recently starting living a "fasted lifestyle" with fasting for spiritual as well as health reasons. I was told if you're doing an excessively long fast (which I am currently in) an enema is almost necessary to rid the toxins in the body. Or it is terrible to do a fast because it hurts your kidneys without cleaning them and your bowels out. So, I did one tonight. it was miserable for a while, but now I feel SO much better than before I did it. I was just wondering how long the discomfort lasts, even though it has eased up mostly. and also: do the effects carry on for a day, or how long.? Thanks =)Health Question & Answer

I am familiar with fasting and familiar with enemas...but not with partnering them up, nor with employing them for spiritual purposes. Both can be used to purify (or detoxify) the body. Just some FYI
Ancient cultures did not have the massive amount of foods available as we do today. Fasting was a naturally occurring and very regular event dictated by the availability of food (or more precisely, the lack of food). Some dieticians and other nutritionists believe health and longevity are both enhanced by adopting a similiar pattern of regular fasting (scheduled at times when foods would naturally be less available in the area you live). All that said....
If you experience tension or spasms in the bowel while using an enema (this would definitely make the procedure more uncomfortable), try using warmer water --- 99 degrees F is a good temperature --- to help the bowel relax. If the bowel is weak or flaccid, try using colder water --- 75-80 degrees F --- to help strengthen it. Enemas should never be used in the presence of rectal bleeding.
There are some very good guidelines for fasting and enemas (in the very back of the book, Part Three) in "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" by Balch and Balch. You can generally find a copy at the local health food stores and/or the herb stores in your area. They keep a copy on hand for reference by staff and/or customers. Health Question & Answer

Hi Kayl, I understand what you are saying. Allot of cleansing from whatever the reason, regardless of why, has to do with enemas. This is one of the best ways to detoxify. Enemas and colonics have been around for 100s of years. It sounds like that you are trying to detoxify your body. I do this all the time, Email me and I will explain.Health Question & Answer

Why should you go for enema while you are fasting for spiritual and health reasons.? Usually, long fasting is not advisable, more so for health reasons. Fasting should always be undertaken under proper medical advice. Health Question & Answer

Western culture knows plenty about our digestive processes and how our bodies deal with toxins. Our bodies are naturally very efficient at removing them. If your body actually did retain wastes and toxins, you would be very ill indeed and you would most probably die.

Prolonged fasting can be dangerous and can actually cause the release of potentially dangerous toxins stored in our fat into the bloodstream. An enema will not help with this.

There is no physical benefit in detoxification programs, it
