Fleas on a human and nutritional yeast?!

Question: Fleas on a human and nutritional yeast.?
My apartment has fleas, and an exterminator has already come in once to spray the floor, but I think they're still here (I don't have pets, so I'm not sure about why they're here and how they're staying), so I've been looking into some natural ways to get rid of fleas, but all of the methods are tailored for pets (of course). Eating garlic, onions, and nutritional yeast are all listed as ways to repel fleas, but how much of those things should I eat for it to be effective.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Eating garlic, etc. increases the sulfur in your blood, which repels all insects. But it takes time. You can also split a clove of garlic and rub it on the bottoms of your feet. I think the dose on nutritional yeast is about 3 teaspoons a day. It's a good B-vitamin source and those are water soluble so you can't overdose. If you want, take a B-50 complex vitamin instead. Be sure to take with a meal as they can cause nausea.

I've had fleas in my carpet and got rid of them without sprays by vacuuming every day for about 2 weeks. Flea eggs hatch in I think 7 days.

Meantime, dilute essential oil of Tea Tree (or Cedar leaf or Rosemary) in olive oil and rub on your feet and legs to repel fleas. I'd use about 3 drops per teaspoon olive oil.Health Question & Answer

Go ahead and treat your home the same as you would if you had pets. See the sites below for how to do that. I have not come across a dosage by weight for whole garlic, but http://www.garlicvalleyfarms.com/health.... has a table for garlic juice, but does not say how to make it.

Since garlic is safe for humans (apparently it is not safe for cats and might not be safe for dogs) you can take as much as you want. The best dosage I could find is 1200 mg--that's maybe a clove or two a day.? Jury is still out on whether other forms work as well as whole garlic.

Whatever you do, try as many things as possible at once. But I will say, I have tried taking garlic capsules when I go camping and rarely get bites.

Good luck geting rid of the fleasHealth Question & Answer

boric acid works.

Maybe spraying yourself with Vanilla extract. It keeps nats away, maybe it would work for fleas too. Plus it smells great. Fleas live in little eggs in the carpet and the instant they sense something warm they hatch and start looking. You'll need to do several treatments to get rid of themHealth Question & Answer
