Home-remedies/ sore throat relief?!

Question: Home-remedies/ sore throat relief.?
yesterday I developed a sore throat as well as a bit of congestion (which has mostly cleared up) but my throat is still sore !
I just am interested in what home remedies people use so far I've tried gargling salt water, advil, panadol, dimetapp, drinking lots of water, honey and lemon tea and ginger ale !

my throat sort of feels swollen and it is hard to swallow but my glands aren't up !!

help .?

i have that same type of cold! the only thing that helped me you've already tried!! the salt water gargle with water as hot as my throat could stand it. it took about 20 minutes of gargling...but after that my throat felt better for hours. definitely plenty of fluids, warm fluids are generally better since sore throat is sometimes caused by nasal drip--and warm drinks can clear this out better than cold ones. avoid dairy products like milk and ice cream...of course fruity popsicles are okay, though. :)
hot water with honey and lemon---but then you've tried that.
sorry i don't have any new ideas! i've heard echinacea and goldenseal can sometimes be miracle herbs for sore throat and i know that echinacea can help your immune system fight the cold/infection...Health Question & Answer

At our house for any sore throat we use GrapeFRUIT seed extract (GSE). You can buy it as a liquid from health food stores. We put 10 drops in 6 oz of water and gargle with it. It works very quickly. It does taste nasty though, so have some strong juice, grapefruit or pineapple, to chase it with.

We've used it as a home cure for tonsillitis and strep, as well as cold induced sore throats. No one suffers more than just a couple hours from sore throat here; we just grab the GSE bottle and then are good to go.

also, cut out refined sugars. Health Question & Answer
