That is very suspicious for a herniated (aka ruptured) disc leading to bilateral sciatica. If your legs are weak, that is a serious sign that you may need surgical decompression.

Do NOT go to a chiropractor for this...the good ones will tell you that as well, as this is not a condition they can deal with, and they could make it worse.Health Question & Answer

I would suggest seeing a chiropractor first. They do a wide variety of neurological exams to narrow down what is causing the pain and where it originates based on pain referral patterns . If the pain is do to an injury of some sort, a herniated disc is not out of the question but even chiropractors can help by utilizing disc decompression therapy and exercises. If they cannot help they can refer to to another specialist. Since you have bilateral weakness of your legs and pain upon sneezing, I would highly recommend a consultation.Health Question & Answer

If you have health insurance, a chiropractic does wonders for the back and would decrease the pain in nonevasive ways. I've always used it whenever I experienced pain or discomfort on my back or wrists, and it has always worked as I don't like popping pills that only offer a temporary relief not getting to the root of the problem. But of course the chiropractor would tell you if this is a medical problem and would advise that if they find that it requires different treatments. So give them a call immediately if you can, so you can get some relief and be on the road to wellness.Health Question & Answer

I empathize with you, been there for many years.

The only thing that has helped is a core of exercises that were specifically related to "my" type of back pain, not the general exercises that are usually given.

I do them upon awakening, mainly three, that really do the trick. If I skip a few days or sit too long, wham, the pain returns. But I can instantly get rid of it.

The key is finding "which" exercises that pinpoint and stretches the area that is stiff and everyone's area of pain is different.

Depending upon what is causing your back pain, it may only be controlled and not totally eliminated. But you must do something on your own daily, and it should be the "correct" thing.

Just a note, I do visit an excellent massage therapist who gives me deep tissue massages in the areas when I really overdue it. I personally can't stress enough how tremendous this is when you find the best therapist for your pain. Once again, pain gone.

Check out below one of the best resources I've used now for the past 3 years that assisted me in pinpointing "my" trouble spots and thereby ridding me of the pain.

You can be helped.

Have you gone to the doctor. It sounds like you could be suffering from sciatica. I would get it checked out. Sciatica is where the nerves in your lower back and legs get irritated so that could be the source of your pain. Definitely get it checked out. Health Question & Answer
