Question: I am going to an acupuncturist.?
I am going to an acupuncturist and I am bit concerned about the needles the place.? I understand that they puncture the skin, and I am afraid of scarring.? I know it may seem odd, but that's the only fear I have about this. I truly believe in it even though I have never had it, but I just want to clarify the needle problem...Health Question & Answer

I have seen at least half a dozen acupuncturists. I agree with the first answer that the needles are placed so slightly below the outer level of the skin that they will not scar. also, almost all acupuncturists sterilize their needles or use disposable needles for health reasons.
My experience is that some needles do hurt when placed on a meridian point that is out of balance (too much or too little chi). However, the pain is bearable and temporary. I wish you the best.Health Question & Answer

it will not scar.. it is only going under about 3 layers of the dermis.. it will leave tiny marks for a day or so, otherwise, there will be no scarring. And it doesnt hurt.. Health Question & Answer
