Can I get alternative/natural medicine covered in a auto accident claim? ?!

Question: Can I get alternative/natural medicine covered in a auto accident claim.? .?
I was in in a not at fault car accident about 6 months ago. I went to the doctor and he prescribe anti inflammatory medication.

I do not like to take conventional medicine, and opted to get natural medicine for the muscle inflammation to go down.

I sent all of my bills to the insurance adjuster so I can get reimbursed, since I paid out of pocket for everything. The adjuster is refusing to reimburse me for the natural/ alternative medicine. Are they allowed to do this. I feel like I am being discriminated against for opting to use something other than traditional medicine.

What can I do, are there any laws governing against this type of thing.?Health Question & Answer

Most 3rd party insurers will have a list of things they will cover, and things they will not. You should have checked with them first to see if they paid for alternative treatments. Generally the only alternative things they MAY pay for are chiro and acupuncture.

They are a private insurer, they can do whatever they like. There is no law forcing them to cover treatments that their medical advisors consider useless.Health Question & Answer

Get your doctor's approval .. as in have him write a note to the insurance company regarding covering what ever it is.

I had a client who had a bad car accident and his Pain Management Doctor prescribed Reiki after I documented 3 sessions regarding his pain and was able to show 3 sessions making improvement.
I gave the client the documentation of his sessions and then the Insurance company called me and had me mail documents to verify what he was sending. The Client got reimbursed for all his payments toward the Reiki Sessions I provided.Health Question & Answer

I don't think an insurance company will pay for that.. It would be like sending them your psychic healer bills.. Im sorry to say but alternative treatment is on your own.. They are just protecting themselves from fraud.. Im not saying that you are fraudulent but once they pay someone then that will open the flood gates..
If you need medicine you should take real medicine tested and regulated by FDA and prescribed by a doctor.. Anything else are "dirty drugs"...Health Question & Answer
