Hi: I tried valerian for sleep but unfortunately it was not that helpful. However, everyone is different and you might have more success than I did.
There are a few things to remember about using valerian. If you get it in a capsule form, please check that it is the standardized extract form. also, use a good name brand like TwinLabs rather than a cheaper drug store variety.
Finally, please remember that it takes time for valerian to work. I think you have to take it every day for about a week before enough is in your body to be effective. It is not like a drug where you take it and 15 minutes later you are asleep. Hope this helps. Health Question & Answer

I use it frequently. It does help me relax my mind and go to sleep. Only drawback is, valerian can make you have heartburn, and sometimes feel nauseous.Health Question & Answer
It used to work for me but it doesn't now. I think my insomnia was too strong and I ended up needing Lunesta- ugh.
