You should ensure that you get loads of calcium and magnesium (which work in tandem for heart, neural and bone and teeth health) naturally by eating lots of fresh leafy and green vegies like broccolli, buk choy, chard, kale .... carefull with spinach though as eating it with iron rich food will inhibit iron absorption ....... (preferably eat your greens raw as cooking devitalises them ~ or lightly steamed) .......... spice them up with freshly squeezed lemon juice, drizzled with organic cold pressed extra virgin oil (no trans fats contained therein) .......... calcium works best with magnesium, vitamins A, C, D; iron and phosphorus (too much phosphorus will deplete calcium ~ so avoid sodas, pop and soft drinks ..... anything carbonated really) ........... leafy and green vegies are also rich in vitamins A and C ...... organic lentils, quinoa, brown rice are also rich in iron ...... leafy and green vegies are rich in iron too ....... organic with the lentils, quinoa, brown rice to avoid the nasty sulfites and other chemicals they use to "preserve" the commercial varieties that will upset sensitive systems ........ simply get 10 - 15 mins daily of safe sun exposure for your vitamin D requirements ...... oh, foods rich in phosphorous are whole grains such as brown rice and quinoa (pronounced keen-wah), nuts and seeds ......... avoid drinking more than 1 or 2 cups of coffee or tea per day also as the caffeine will mess up the calcium phosphorus balance in your body and thus inhibit calcium absorption....... drink 8 glasses daily of fresh filtered water and stay well hydrated also so that your body can perform at peak levels.

take care of you

I agree with the topical application of comfrey.
There are some studies that suggest taking it internally isn't great, so when I broke my hand, I also used the homeopathic preparation of comfrey. This will be labeled "Symphytum" which is the Latin name of comfrey.
One of the old names of comfrey is "Knitbone." Good stuff.Health Question & Answer

I'm so sorry to hear about your injury, that sounds quite painful :(

I'm not aware of any foods, but I highly recommend the herb Comfrey. It is rich in a substance called allantoin (a cell proliferant) which helps to heal broken bones and connective tissues.

My mother, who is 76 years old, recently broke her hip and thigh bone. I have her taking Comfrey leaf tea every day, and using a comfrey root salve externally as well. It takes some time, but she has been showing very good improvement.

Comfrey is also a rich source of calcium (1130 mg per 100 grams dried herb) as well as other vitamins and minerals that help the body to absorb calcium.

If you can find Comfrey growing near you, you can even use the leaves as food. I like to eat it raw, but some people don't like the rough leaves and prefer to cook it first, or use it in soups.

If you can't find it locally, you can purchase good quality organic Comfrey leaf for $8.00 per pound at http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkher...

They also sell the oil for external use http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/oils/he...

I hope you feel better soon :)

Joanna - the studies that are constantly cited regarding the internal use of Comfrey as 'not great' are misleading. I assure you that cultivated Comfrey leaves are perfectly safe for internal use.
