I was supposed to be dead in July from heart problems. I had heart failure and arrhythmia and other problems but they had no idea why. I found 2 supplements that changed my life and my energy level and gave me life again. Look up Hawthorn and also D-ribose. Hawthorn has been used for thousands of years for ANY heart problem, and D-ribose is a substance already in the body, part of DNA, that helps oxygen and nutrients get to every cell individually. It helped oxygen get to my heart cells, muscle and brain cells, and changed my life. I had to take it 3 weeks before I saw the difference. I take 1 in the morning and 1 about 3 pm when I start to get tired again. It works so well I did a short report on it at http://bluebirdyliving.blogspot.com . I hope it will change your life as much as mine. I am off oxygen, not using a walker anymore, and depression left the day it started working, probably because my brain didn't get enough oxygen either. I wish i could pass this stuff out. The D-ribose is supposed to be a treatment for fibromyalgia that is as efficient as insulin is for diabetes. OH YEAH! The D-ribose improved my diabetes because the sugar now gets to the cells to be used as energy instead of sitting in my blood. NOTHING better, in my opinion!! The D-ribose helps to heal the liver as well. I have not checked on liver problems with the Hawthorn.

Well, I can only give you a general answer. As to what is safe for you to take, you will have to consult with both a qualified ND and MD who know your health history and can set up a treatment plan that is best for you. Hawthorn is supposed to be safe for the liver, but I cannot tell you if it will be safe for you without knowing your medical history.

Hawthorn [CRATAEGUS LAEVIGATA] is used for pathologies of the heart and circulation, including: atherosclerosis, cardiac arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, angina, and vascular disease.

It works by dilating (opening) coronary and peripheral blood vessels and improving oxygen utilization in the heart muscle. The proanthocyanidins (PCO's) in Hawthorn have been shown to lower cholesterol levels and decrease the size of cholesterol-containing plaques in the arteries.

Fatty acids play critical roles in human health and disease. the membranes (protective walls) of all cells, not just brain and nerve cells, are composed of a double layer of fats. Essential fatty acids impact and control every cell of the body on a second-by-second basis. They increase oxidation and metabolic rate and are required for energy production. They regulate blood clotting, the inflammatory processes, and hormone production.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids - EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) plays a role in regulating the inflammatory process and controlling the blood clotting process in the body. Because of its important role in regulating these processes, research has shown EPA to be beneficial for a number of health conditions including heart disease, arthritis and cancer.

Omega-6 Fatty Acids are also components of cell membranes and are responsible for clotting and wound healing.

A growing body of research suggests that higher intakes of omega-3 fatty acids, especially EPA and DHA may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and help maintain cardiovascular health.
