Make sure you're getting enough fiber. Milk of magnesia can loosen things up, prunes, apple juice, grape juice. I take a fiber supplement pill that helps a lot since my rx meds stop me up. Epsom salts taken as directed on the package can help too as they are another form of magnesium which loosens stool. If you can work a supplement or a regular addition to your diet that works, taking it at a certian time of day can get you regulated to the point where you will go around the same time every day.Health Question & Answer

Have you tried non-pill ways to get to sleep.? Meditation.? Chamomile tea.?

As for present constipation, drink lots, have lots of fresh salad and fruit.

I eat lots of salad and never get constipated at home, but in Vietnam I was told not to eat salad because I might get worms. This caused constipation which was only fixed when I decided to forget the worms and eat salad. As the pills are causing your problem, this may not be the answer.Health Question & Answer

- Soak 4 dried figs or prunes in water in the morning or afternoon, and just before sleeping eat them. also soak 12 dried raisins in water in the night, and first thing in the morning eat them.
- Avoid carbs - specially white bread / rice more so for dinner.
- 8 -10 glasses of water, I would also add to have as much warm water... Specially in the morning when u wake up, have 1-2 glasses of warm to hot water right away...the more the better..
-Include high fiber foods in your diet - fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, oats... Include lots of salads...
- Get some exercise everyday. Build up slowly 30 to 60 mins a day on 5 or more days a week.
-Schedule a time for the bowel movement. A time might help.
- Support your feet with a small stool when you sit on the toilet. This helps flex your hips and places your pelvis in the squatting position. Health Question & Answer
