When taking Marshmallow Root as a herbal supplement, should it be taken separately from other vitamins?!

Question: When taking Marshmallow Root as a herbal supplement, should it be taken separately from other vitamins.?
From what I've read Marshmallow Root should be taken separately from other medications because it can reduce their effects, but does the same hold true to other herbs.? I'm currently taking Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle with it and wouldn't want to hinder their effects by taking it with the Marshmallow Root.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Herbs that are rich in mucilage, such as Marshmallow, Slippery Elm, and Psyllium, should not be taken within at least an hour of other herbs, vitamins, supplements or medications as the mucilage will greatly reduce the absorption of anything else that is in the stomach.

So I would definitely recommend you take your Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle separately from Marshmallow. I'd wait 2 hours, just to be safe.Health Question & Answer

Marshmallow root coats the stomach lining with mucilage -- I think that's why it's taken separately. Shouldn't affect the other herbs you named very much. If these are the form of 3 different capsules, just wait 15-20 minutes after the Blessed Thistle before taking Marshmallow if you wish. If they are liquids it won't make any differance at all. Marshmallow & Fenugreek are often taken together for ulcers.

And to the critic of herbal meds -- I buy carrots and potatoes without "reading ingredients." Herbs in their natural state are foods that have been used for healing since God created the earth.Health Question & Answer

Stay away from herbal supplements. All you herbal freaks do not realize that you are taking potentially dangerous quantities of unknown, untried, and untested substances, some of which are very toxic. These products are unregulated and when tested randomly showed huge variations in chemical composition from one batch to another including many contaminants (heavy metals like lead included). You don't buy a car without knowing what is under the hood, you don't buy food without reading it's ingredients - why poison yourself with unknown, unregulated chemicals.? Most healthy people do NOT need vitamin or any type of food supplement at all.Health Question & Answer
