Answers:
Colon cleansing in ITSELF, is a scam.

There are absolutely NO outcome based research evidence that demonstrates that purging the fecal matter artificially from your digestive tract has ANY benefits whatsoever.

Sure, there's always "testimonies," but this is pure anecdotal nonsense. Anyone can fabricate a bunch of stories; anecdotal tales of satisfaction from those lucky people who have "tried the product and had fantastic results!!" Sure, if you are irregular in your bowel patterns, have a tendency to be constipated, or eat an unhealthy diet -- taking a nice big bowel movement will offer some sense of relief and satisfaction. The human digestive tract has been a fine-working part of our anatomy for millions of years, but suddenly we are fixated on the idea that purging our guts is somehow healthy.? I think not.

I get this question asked by my patients quite often, and I tell them all the same thing. Sure, most of us feel better after we get rid of stool that has been accumulating in our digestive tract for the last several hours. So...what's wrong with just being satisfied with that.? Funny how these so-called "doctors" always suggest the same garbage -- that our intestines are suffering from "toxins," (Oooohhh, what a scary word!), and that by the time we die, we will have 15 tons of undigested red meat in our bowels. Says who!.?!.? I imagine I would see such a buffet of read meat in the colonoscopy reports on my patients -- pictures and all -- but, alas....no amazing chunks of red meat. Maybe it's hiding.? Hmmmm....

What they sell is akin to stimulant laxatives, or Senna based laxatives. Problem is, for those who continue to take this kind of garbage...they become at risk for BOWEL DEPENDENCE! Now...instead of having a nice pill (here and there) to make you release all those nasty toxins in the gut...your bowels have become dependent on them in order to promote motility. So, essentially, you have to take them every day -- thus increasing the sales of the nitwit nutjobs at Dr. Natura who are laughing all the way to the bank.

If there are so many "toxins," as they put it, then wouldn't that suggest that one is INGESTING toxic food.? We are what we eat. If we eat unhealthy diets full of fried foods and hormone impregnated meats, then how does a colonic purge suddenly reverse that.? It doesn't. Kind of like suggesting that if we ingest arsenic tainted food, BUT we take this Dr. Natura Colonix, then we will not suffer at all because the toxin is removed, right.? Yeah...right.

Don't be duped, and use a bit of skepticism when you read these "testimonies" from people. As a provider of care, I can suggest healthy lifestyle management, implement diagnostic procedures, and write prescriptions to improve my patients' health overall. All the while, not getting some sort of kick-back in return. These people are SELLING a product that gives them money in return. As long as it reads on the label: "Not intended to cure, treat, or prevent and disease -- Dietary Supplement Only." They can say whatever they want, and take your money regardless. There is NO regulation for these products in the USA, so they can make claims to just about anything they want. Kind of like the snake-oil salesmen of the old days.

If you're having trouble with your regularity, or have questions about improving your diet, please see your health care provider. I'm certain that he/she can help you make better educated decisions for your health.

All the best to you.Health Question & Answer
