It might help with the discomfort. Chronic back problems is one of the reasons for obtaining a prescription. Prescription pain medications are also a mind altering substance with just as high a potential for abuse so I don't really see what people have against medical marijuana. I'd go for it. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Hi - I would highly recommend that you steer clear of using marijuana for anything at all, given that only now all the evidence points to it being a more insidious drug than alcohol with far reaching consequences over time. There is research that shows that weight lifters suffer back injury as a result of taking marijuana when engaged in physical training.
Instead I would recommend that you seek the assistance of corrective chiropractor - not the ordinary chiro. A corrective chiropractor will take you through a series of adjustments over time, designed specifically to allow the regeneration of the spine so that it is restored to total health.
It has taken me 7 years to establish a perfect curve in my neck and thoracic regions and now we are working on the lumbar region. I feel so much better and my flexibility and strength has increased 100 fold.
I was lucky to be personally recommended to my chiro. I am sure you will find one near you.

I have 7 herniated discs in my spine, bone spurs in my neck, arthritis in neck, sacral illiac joints and hips, have had 2 surgeries on the spine. They had me on every known narcotic known to man. They told me I HAD to stay on narcotics because my injuries were too severe. I wouldn't be able to tolerate the pain without them.

Being a paramedic, I knew better than to take what a doctor says as gospel. I did my own research and found that long term use of narcotics not only destroy the neuro receptors in the brain, but cause you to be in more pain by increasing production of "substance P." This substance P is what causes you to feel pain. Increased production will cause you to be hypersensitive to pain.

In short, I stopped assisting them in yacht payments and got off the meds myself. It was 6 months of hell, but I did it. You have to wean slowly, otherwise it is too much stress on an already damaged body.

Once I got off the meds, I found my pain levels had dropped so much, I actually had days where I didn't hurt at all!

I still have to be careful, my discs still like to herniate and sometimes herniate more than they were before. I will take pain meds and steroids for 3 days when that happens, otherwise I stay away from the narcotics.

I know have a garden, can somewhat keep up with housework as long as I don't try to take too much on at one time and almost have my life back.

When I am in pain, I take herbal tinctures made of california poppy, wild lettuce, scullcap and Jamaican dogwood. I get pretty good relief from that. For muscle spasms I take tinctures of kava kava.

My family is happy to have me back. When I was on the meds, it was no different than being on illegal drugs when it came to the mood swings and depression.

Don't rely on the doctors for it all. They are indoctrinated into their own belief systems and do not understand that man is not able to do better than God. When you take just one chemical from a plant, you lose the ability to get the full effects from the whole plant or plant part. Maybe one chemical has useful properties, but it is the other chemicals that make it healing.

Best of luck to you

It will probably relieve some of the pain and discomfort.

Have you tried a combination of chiropractic care and lower back exercises (pilates works wonders).? I've found the best chiropractors tend to be the small practices with less equipment and more hands-on treatment. This may provide a better long term solution. The cannabis can help symptoms, but it won't fix the problem.Health Question & Answer

Yes i think it would. I have back and shoulder pain from a car accident. I found the best thing for it is yoga! yoga is all about the core (stomach and back muscle) and elongating the spine. i suggest combining both methods. its the only thing that has helped meHealth Question & Answer

Yes, yes and YES!!

It won't take the pain away, but it will help you to get comfortable and not give a crap about the pain.

Give it a shot...if it works then you've found your redemption. If it doesn't work, just ask your doctor for narcotics.Health Question & Answer
