Its "effects" are entirely due to a placebo response...that includes children and animals.

EDIT Old Cat Lady...your ignorance is showing again. MOST of the evidence of the placebo effect was originally in animal models. Have you never heard of Pavlov's dogs.? Skinner's pigeons etc..? If you like, I can email references to dozens of animal studies showing animals responding to placebo treatments and medications.
More likely however is the subjective evaluation of the owner and the vet, who believe in the treatment, and expect to see an improvement. They will see what they want and expect to see.

I have taken it when upset or anxious about something. I use it for my cats all the time for vet trips, etc.
