Anyone know a good natural substitute for ativan?!
Question: Anyone know a good natural substitute for ativan.?
Anyone know of a good homeopathic remedy for anxiety and panic attacks, with depression, or perhaps a natural supplement of some kind. I am afraid of the side effects from prescription meds, as I have eye trouble and suffer bad headaches an allergies, as well.Health Question & Answer

If your doctor put you on ativan, then you probably really need it. Ativan isn't one that gets prescribed often. I'm not a doctor, I only like to read about herbs, but st. john's wart is often used as an anti-depressant and if you're taking the ativan for the sedative as well you could try either melatonin or valerian. They won't be as strong, though.Health Question & Answer
GABA 750mg.
Not addictive. It's the actual amino-acid in your brain that Ativan and Xanax try to increase artificially.
Check out your adrenals if you have anxiety + allegies. They are probably stressed and overproducing adrenaline and underproducing cortisol (= hydrocortisone).Health Question & Answer

Cutting caffeine and sugar will help with anxiety, but doing some moderate exercise (walking, jogging, etc) can help quite a bit as well.
If you would like some added help, there are some natural products for helping with mood are St. John's Wort, SAMe, 5-HTP (or Tryptophan), Rhodiola Rosea, and some good stress-relievers are GABA or L-Theanine.
Good luck!Health Question & Answer
