I don't know much about herbal remedies and are curious to ones that are out there. Sure i could do extensive research on google searches but i figured i'd try and see what people have in mind if they do care to answer. Here are a few questions i'm curious about.
1.What is the name of the plant.?
2. What part of the plant that is being used.
3.How is the remedy prepared and administered to either yourself or the other person.?
4.How did you learn about this remedy.?
5.How often do you use the remedy and for how long.?
6.How successful has the herbal remedy been.?
7.What types of unusual reactions have you or people had using this herbal remedy.?
8.What folktales or legends do they know about this plant.?

If you can answer any or if all that would be great. I'm looking forward to hearing what kind of herbal remedies are out there that i could possibly try.Health Question & Answer

The website I work at, AOL Health, did a story on home remedies from readers a while back. The remedies don't all necessarily involve plants, but some do. Check it out, it might be useful:

I don't know technical things like names of plants. I'll just tell you what I have used and how it has worked for me. First off, I have trouble with insomnia. So I looked in a book on herbs that I have. It said in England they use cat nip for the kiddies at nap time. So what I did was I took like 5 tablespoons of catnip and added it to 2 chamomile tea bags, (chamomile is a well known and standard remedy for insomnia) I added boiling water and seeped it all day. It worked great.

Then I went online and found another remedy for insomnia. Cinnamon and honey. This is hands down the best I've ever had. It's subtle. You don't feel like you are being hit over the head with a sledge hammer and you are not groggy the next day. It's kind of like you're lying in bed not knowing if you are going to fall asleep and then 8 hours later you wake up completely refreshed. One teaspoon of organic cinnamon in a cup, add boiling water, stir and cover for one half hour, then add one tablespoon of raw honey (it must be raw or it won't work) stir and drink half the mixture before bed. Strain out the cinnamon which by now will be in a disgusting clump. You can drink the other half the following night.

Horsetail- the active ingredient is called silica- good for hair, bones and nails. Makes hair grow fast and keeps bones and nails strong.

Milk thistle- active ingredient called silymarin- restores the liver. Recovering alchoholics use this. also my cat had liver failure and the vet told me with conventional treatment she had a 15% chance of survival. But with milk thistle it went up to about 80%. She survived.

Peppermint tea for a stomach ache. Works great.

Get a good book on herbal rememdies. Yes, they do work. There are alot more than what I know.Health Question & Answer
