Lately, I have been upping my dosage of meditation. I generally meditate for 25 minutes and then try to sneak in another 15 later in the day.

As you probably know, there are so many ways to meditate (because there are so many different types of people). Many people gravitate toward mantras. They can be very soothing and are a good way to silence the negative monolog or chatter that is usually running through people's heads. Other people are more physical and like to follow their breath or pay attention to other body sensations. People who are visual can breath in colors or picture themselves in relaxing scenes, like the beach or the forests.

Yes, you do get better with practice, just like learning to ride a bike or drive a car. You can meditate for 5 minutes once or twice daily. After a week or so, you move up to 7 or 8 minutes, etc.

Meditation has helped me both mentally and physically. I am calmer and get less upset with things that used to really bother me. I am less "scatter-brained." I can focus better and not get lost in daydreams the way I used to. Physically, I am more energetic and sleep better at night.

I still have a long way to go in my personal life, but I can highly recommend meditation to you. It might be hard in the beginning, but start with small sessions. Experiment until you find a style of meditation that feels right to you.Health Question & Answer

I think a lot of people do not actually know the true definition of meditation. Many people see it as either sitting a certain way breathing a certain way, but there is more to it than that. I do agree that even this method of being still and breathing slow is benefical to the body, but there is more to meditation than this.
As for meditation, it does make the body more calm and balanced in many ways (more mental clarity and feeling better physically). I have felt is effects after doing it even the first time. It has been very helpful. I do admit that it has been difficult for me to silence my mind at first, but it gets easier with practice.Health Question & Answer

Yes I meditate all the time and keeps me calm in everyway, everytime. Even when dealing with difficult people or bad situations, it keeps me calm. Letting God know anything like my problems and worries any time is a great gift. He's always there to listen and he wants to listen. That is why the Bible says "Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let YOUR petitions be made known to God, and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard YOUR hearts and YOUR MENTAL POWERS by means of Christ Jesus." Philipians 4:6 and 7. God bless.Health Question & Answer

Yes I've done it but I really should do it more. I actually like the guided imagery tapes. You play a tape/CD and someone actually talks you thru imagery that helps you feel relaxed and serene. Try it,. it takes a little practice, come people can do it on their own. However, the perso n speaking just makes it flow so much smoother.Health Question & Answer
