Relaxing hot bath with Sea Salt crystals?!

Question: Relaxing hot bath with Sea Salt crystals.?
Hi
I was wondering if I could use Sea salt crystals that I use for cooking and put some of it in my bath tub for a relaxing bath.? How much should I put in there.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yes, you can. Adding mineral salts (eg. Sea Salts) to a bath is exactly the same treatment as what a number of spas have available as one of their options for detoxing, skin health, and other health benefits. The amount will depend partially on the product (like if they are just pure salts or not), but a few cups is usually sufficient for a normal sized bath. Generally, you shouldn't need to put more than 4 cups in a bath, but you can try experimenting, too.
As a side note, multiple people can use that same bath. I say that mostly due to the typical cost of the salts and the fact that some couples/families may be willing to use the same bath water. The minerals in the water would be in sufficient quantities that there should be enough in a bath with 4 cups of salt to suit 2-4 people rather easily. Good luck and enjoy!Health Question & Answer

Yes, you can use table salt or specialty cooking salt in the bath tub. I have a soaker tub and use approximately 1 cup for my bath. Epsom salt is less expensive than some of your specialty salts and works extremely well. One of my all time favorites is Dead Sea Salt that I buy on-line in bulk.

For even more relaxation I also add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil.

Enjoy your bath.Health Question & Answer

You are better off using epsom salts, some of which you can get from the Dead Sea. It is made up of Magnesium salts which work well inside and outside the body. In a bath, the magnesium is absorbed through pores and relaxes you (Mg is a natural muscle relaxer). When you drink them, it works like an enema and cleans you out by keeping the water in your large intestine. Both are very nice therapies and you can get epsom salts very cheap (2-3 bucks for 4 pounds). I use 1 1/2 pounds in a bath and it works great.Health Question & Answer

epsom salts are more for relaxing since they contain magnesium sulfate (a muscle relaxant, and nervous system sedating) but if you find sea salt relaxing, go ahead. and yes you can use the kind you use for cooking, as long as the ingredients just read sea salt. use about half a cup of salt. read this article about other benefits and other types:
