How do electrologists get Lidocaine?!

Question: How do electrologists get Lidocaine.?
I recently went for an electrolysis consultation and I made an appointment for my first session. I did my research, found out that the electrologist is definitely board certified and she seems to keep her office, which is beautiful, meticulously clean. She's been doing electrolysis for over 10 years, articles have been published about her in local publications, and her career history is based in the medical field. She explained the process to me and she really seemed to know her stuff. She gave me a tour of her office and everything seemed to be ok.

After my consultation, I talked to my boyfriend about it and let him know how it went. He's a lead pharmacy technician. When I told him that the electrologist uses Lidocaine during treatment he said "How can that be.? You need an actual prescription for that. How does she get it if she's not an actual doctor.?" So my question is this: If Lidocaine can only be accessed through a prescription, how is she getting it.?Health Question & Answer

Lidocaine is not prescription only. You can get the topical formulation over the counter. Bactine has lidocaine in it.Health Question & Answer

i don't know how the electrolysis got it, but i definately wouldn't ever go back. i've had electrolysis done for a few years, with 2 different professionals and they never used any drugs. once the treatment is over, they use ice packs to relieve any soreness or stinging.Health Question & Answer
