Whats the best way for me to boost my immune system?!

Question: Whats the best way for me to boost my immune system.?
I've been under a lot of stress since Dec last year. I've failed my driving test 3 times, I was subjected to bullying at work and I've gone through a break up. Fortunately I'm not feeling depressed but I keep on getting colds and flu. I think it could be for these reasons...or....

My friend looks after my son when I work one evening. Her house is REALLY so untidy, and its dirty where she hasn't cleaned properly. Her little boy recently gave my son the flu and I caught it off him as well. Could my constant colds etc also be down to her messy house.? I also had a tummy bug which I think was down to her mess at home as I ate something at her house. I can't tell her that her house is an absolutly pig sty - but it's really very bad.

What do you think.?Health Question & Answer

Echinacea.
I had a cough on and off for months. T took Echinacea and my cough went.
It works by boosting that arm of the immune system that is associated with the intra-cellular immune response.....against viruses and bacterial infections.

I think your ill-health is stress related. I am sorry to hear about your troubles but what does not kill us makes us stronger as they say and I think there is much truth in that. Make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin A, B, C, D & E.....the B vitamins are known as the anti-stress vitamins. also make sure you get enough magnesium (anti-stress mineral) and calcium and zinc. All these nutrients help with building a good immune system and meeting the demands of stress.

I think a 'dirty' house you may visit would only make you ill if your immune system had hit rock bottom. You should be able to produce antibodies against such bugs as might be found in a 'dirty' house from having been exposed to these bugs throughout childhood, even if on a smaller scale from a less 'dirty' house or houses. I have to agree somewhat with 'SomeMoreRaina' regarding your friendship with your friend. I think your constant colds is most likely down to the fact that you have had quite a bit of stress and perhaps your diet as been unable to meet the demands of that.

A good fairly strong multivitamin/mineral supplement you could consider taking is SuperOne from Holland and Barratt. I would also take the Echinacea and take it for a month and then take a rest and resume in the autumn to boost your immune system for the winter. Holland and Barratt also sell a Junior Echinacea so depending on the age of your son it would also be a good idea to give him Echinacea too if he is over 2 years old. Read the instructions for dosages. Just be careful to check the label carefully to be sure there are no known allergens in there among the added ingredients. My son got rind of a couple of warts he had had for several years from giving him Echinacea.

The best way to boost your immune system is to get an adequate amount of sleep each night, aim for at least 8 hours. As well, make sure you are getting enough Vitamin D in your diet. Here in Canada it is almost impossible to get enough Vitamin D without taking a supplement so I take Vitamin D drops, they are available at Shoppers Drug Mart. Obviously diet and exercise play a key role as well. Make sure you are eating lean protein, lots of green vegetables and berries regularly. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Your colds are not the result of a messy house. We all get up to 7 viruses a year, so that's one every 7 or so weeks. Providing you are eating your '5 a day' fruit and veg are eating a well balanced diet, vitamin supplements on top of this are of no therapeutic value- despite what the sCAM brigade tell you.

You might want to do some research into ESSIAC. It is supposed to help with the immune system and many other problems. It is recommended by John Hopkins and apparently has done wonders for people. My mom is taking it for her immune system and my dad is taking it for his cancer and both seem to be doing well. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

I get the feeling that what you need most of all is some fun and happy times...?Health Question & Answer

Bullying is really dangerous to people's mental and physical health. Some people actually get post traumatic stress from it, and if it is unrelenting, heartattacks, breakdowns etc.

You don't have to eat at her house. So don't.

You sound like you have a good friend, although a messy one. I think you need to concentrate on your tasks: getting that license, etc. Why risk alienating a friend at this time.? It would be a sad decision if you recover your spirits by becoming a bully yourself, using your friend, blaming her for your troubles, and putting her down behind her back.

I would rather have a messy friend than a backstabbing ingrate anyday.Health Question & Answer
