I would say definitely make a dentist appointment ASAP because it was most something that started out as a cavity and then became decay and in turn became an infection, but if you're looking for a quick fix until she can see a doctor, I'd recommend rinsing with warm salt water, rinsing as often as possible with peroxide and trying to keep it on the direct area that is aching to clean infection or prevent it from getting worse, and I'd recommend orajel for numbing the area. It's imperative that she does see a dentist though because if its that brutal she may need antibiotics or to have the tooth extracted, and all of that intense pain will come back again.Health Question & Answer

Honey....i was so scared of the dentist as ive grown up that i had to live with all kinds of stuff...but when I finally got the cohonies *hehe* to go...I loved it..No more pain...No More Pain...and I loved my dentist...just a good ole fashioned dentist to whom even wears his cowboy boots with his scrubs...he is the best dentist i could ask for....if its payment for it...If your dentist doesnt want to let someone pay it out in these days and times...then I would be lookin for me another dentist...there are some out there...and by the way...NO ROOT CANALS....get it pulled...and get a fake one put in...because the root canals cost you way more money in the long run, and if your like me....I do good to pay for what I do get done...I hope this helps you...Take your mum...She needs a dentists attention...

Ps...The emergency room also can help her, with antibiotics and a good shot to help her sleep....she needs those before the dentist can even do anything to her tooth...If its infected and he goes in to do anything the infection can get into her blood stream...so if all else fails you take her to your local emergency room....I hope she gets better !! Take her to the ER tonight...I promise they will help... ; )Health Question & Answer

Firstly and most importantly, get her to a dentist. If she doesn't have one, try NHS direct. The best 'natural' remedy is oil of cloves, available from chemists. Put a TINY bit onto a cotton wool bud and dab it on the sore area. It numbs the pain. However, if you put too much on, the area tastes horrible and the mouth is all numb, so just a tiny bit. If you don't have any of this in tonight, then perhaps rubbing a bit of whiskey or other spirit into her gum may help.Health Question & Answer

The best thing for toothache is clove oil. (Sounds silly, I know - but it is an old-fashioned yet VERY effective treatment for toothache). Get it from the chemist or health-food store; it comes in a tiny bottle. You soak a small piece of cotton wool, then place it on the tooth & hold it in place. This, together with pain-killers, should work until your Mum can get to a dentist.

Of course, your Mum needs to see a dentist a.s.a.p. In the UK, she can get emergency treament by ringing the NHS Direct helpline and finding which is her nearest hospital that has an emergency dental department.Health Question & Answer

Yes, she should go to the dentist ASAP. If it hurts so much she's crying, then she may have an abcess or infection. The jaw is way too close to the brain to fool around with any infections.Health Question & Answer

Lol, I know it sounds silly, but all I can think of is her shoving a sock in her mouth and biting down on it to apply pressure.?Health Question & Answer
